Second Coffee

I am excited to have another second coffee next month. Some people have asked what it is so I thought I would use today’s blog to get down some thoughts Andrew and I have been contemplating and talking through.

Second Coffee is a space where you can go to get a little jolt of encouragement to your day or week. I joked with Andrew when we were talking about this that we are like the Star 93.3 of networking events, with their tagline of uplifting and encouraging. There are so many great networking events around the city that give you an opportunity to meet new people or learn something different which will happen at Second Coffee as well, but the focus is that you walk away a little more refreshed.

If I was going to try to define the “values” of this networking event in its current 1 month old iteration I think it would be:

1. Encouragement > Pontification - Replacing you should do this, with you can do this.

2. Pause > Push - Let’s make some space before making moves.

3. Collaboration > Transaction - Turning “What Do You Do?” Into “What Can We Do?”

Who knows how these will change over time as we continue to push forward but I think this is a good first ping over to Andrew’s pong, and we would love to hear your thoughts as well as we shape it. We have some fun ideas and other iterations of what we can do under the banner of Second Coffee we are excited to share as well.

Ultimately, we know there are a lot of events vying for your attention and we never want Second Coffee to feel like another thing to do. We want it to be something you look forward to knowing you’ll walk away with a little pep in your step, just like that Second Cup of Coffee.
